------------------------------------------------------------
The meeting began at 8:30 am with the usual business of attendance and
registration. Minutes from the Cupertino meeting in November were read
and approved, as was the modified agenda for this meeting.
General
------------------------------------------------------------
Discussion continued from the previous meeting on OpenVault
architecture and MCS.
Geoff Peck was 'volunteered' to work on renaming and redefining
components of OpenVault and the MSSRM to come to a common set of terms,
objects. This is more ambitious an undertaking than the time before
meetings permits.
A motion was made to state by resolution the direction that SSSWG is
taking in merging ideas from OpenVault with MSSSRM. That motion was
incompletely worded, and Jack said he would work on revising it with
Joel, who made the motion.
Dixon and Alan (not an attendee) of DEC would work on definition of an
API for MCS. Dixon will provide further detail for inclusion in the
minutes.
Joel volunteered to write a description of the MOVER requirements.
The SSSWG enjoyed several demos, including that of the DEC MRDU, SGI's
OpenVault, and Redcape's management software. Redcape held a reception for SSSWG at its offices in Boulder.
OpenVault open issues ... Curtis Anderson to provide for the minutes.
Jack spoke about the NIST Advanced Technology Program, and interest was
expressed.
Also mentioned was the need to revise and renew all the SSSWG PARs
(except for MCS). But this has to wait a little for the re-scoping of
the MSSRM components and terms.
