General
------------------------------------------------------------
Media Management System (MMS) DRAFT Requirements
A great deal of time was spent reviewing, revising this draft with
real time editing being accomplished by Geoff. The points of contention
are captured in this draft as well as the changes agreed to at the
meeting. The WG decided that it prefers to continue revision of the
draft between meetings, and not to release the draft generally for
review at this time. The current draft version is 2.4.
TIMELINE FOR MMS
The Group decided that the target date for producing a standard to
submit to the IEEE balloting process is one year. That is, by end of
the September 1988 meeting, or sooner, the SSSWG will submit a standard
based on the MMS requirements to the IEEE. At Paul's suggestion,
intermediate goals and targets will be established to ensure meeting
this timeline. More than half of the attendees made expressions of
committment to expanding the energy necessary to meet this target.
Goal -
Produce a concrete standard for the IEEE Media Management System
Schedule -
September, 1998 -
Draft standards complete, begin standards adoption process.
September, 1999 -
Standard adopted.

NEW SSSWG WEB SITE, REFLECTORS
The SSSWG will pay for registration of a domain name for itself and
establish a web site independent of any organization. The current array
of email reflectors and ftp sites will consolidated at the same server
pair. Hopefully this all will be accomplished in the space of a few
months.
MCS DRAFT STANDARD
Less than an afternoon was spent discussing the MCS standard, an,
again, Geoff made real time edits to the current MCS draft. This draft
will be placed on an ftp site for public input.
PARS
The MMS draft is complete enough to be able to write the scope of one
or more PAR.
